The School Day
At Abacus children spend time both indoors and outside in the playground. Even in the rain we encourage children to wear appropriate clothing and splash in our mud kitchen or play with the carefully planned water related activities on offer.
During indoor time children usually have the opportunity to participate in a range of different play activities designed to develop their understandings and skills. Our teaching uses an inquiry methodology where children are supported to ask questions, make predictions, solve problems and find out answers for themselves.
During the day children may participate in:
- Whole class circle times, songs and stories
- Small group projects and activities
- Individual or group free child initiated play activities
- Individual conferencing or learning with a teacher
